Optional Activities: Tours & Entertainment

Optional activities are available to supplement your time in Denver when you're not involved in Contests and other Roundup activities. There are organized, motorcoach tours of the area to enjoy on Thursday.

Many groups and families take advantage of these options as a reward for the years of hard work that led to attendance at this event. These activities are open to all Western National Roundup participants, coaches, parents, and guests and will be options which can be selected in the Online Registration system.

Tours

All-day-Thursday tours will leave in the morning from the Denver Renaissance Hotel on Thursday January 4, 2018

Tour A: Molly Brown House and Brown Palace

  • Molly Brown House: Get acquainted with an American icon: Margaret Tobin Brown, the "unsinkable" Molly Brown. Step back in time to the height of the Victorian era and enjoy a guided tour of her 1889 restored home. Hear the fascinating story of this extraordinary woman: A prominent Denver socialite, a political activist ahead her time and a survivor of the sinking of the Titanic.
  • And, The Brown Palace Hotel: Take a guided tour of the Brown Palace Hotel... The Brown Palace has become one of the most respected and beloved Denver luxury hotels. But just because the hotel has been around for more than a century doesn't mean it doesn't offer the modern luxuries today's traveler has come to expect. Explore The Brown Palace history for a peek into our past, and then come experience the living legend, offering a new level of luxury in the iconic city center. In the late 1800s, Henry Cordes Brown, a carpenter-turned-real-estate entrepreneur from Ohio, purchased several acres of land, including a triangular plot at the corners of Broadway, Tremont and 17th Street. Having made a fortune selling off his land on Capitol Hill, no expense was spared for his "Palace Hotel." Architect Frank E. Edbrooke was hired for its design in the Italian Renaissance style.
